Helvar LC15TINY-DA-100-700: a 15 W DALI-2 driver for 30 mm holes

Helvar Components has added the LC15TINY-DA-100-700 to its new products: a 15 W DALI-2 LED driver in a long, thin TINY housing that fits through a 30 mm diameter cutout. It is built for the jobs where the driver has to go through the ceiling with the downlight or spot, rather than sit in a box above it.

Small, but with the data features

Small size has not cost it the data features. It is D4i compatible, with Smart Data for luminaire information, energy monitoring and maintenance and diagnostics (DALI parts 251, 252 and 253). It supports constant light output, NFC programming and Helvar's Driver Configurator, and complies with IEEE 1789-2015 on flicker. The output current is set to suit the LED module, anywhere from 100 to 700 mA.

The removable strain reliefs are what make it suitable for independent use, mounted outside the luminaire, and it can be used in class I, II and III luminaires. Helvar Components lists ENEC, CB and EL approvals.

Where it fits

A lot of hospitality and residential work in the region uses small recessed spots in plasterboard ceilings, often with no access panel. The driver has to pass through the fitting's cutout and lie on the board. At 23.1 by 21 mm in section, the LC15TINY does that through a hole of just 30 mm, and at 15 W it covers most single spots and small downlights.

It sits alongside the LC12TINY-DA-180-700, the 12 W DALI-2 TINY driver in a compact rectangular housing. Choose the LC12TINY where length is the problem and the LC15TINY where the hole size is.
