BeamUI is the software we built to commission Helvar lighting control systems from a browser. Instead of one engineer tied to a desktop on a cable, the team can group, name, configure and identify devices from a laptop, tablet or phone, while it works with your own Helvar Designer installation so the design file stays the source of truth.

Commission from any device

The slowest part of commissioning is matching devices on the bus to fittings in the ceiling. With BeamUI, an engineer walks the site with a phone, identifies a fitting, names it and drops it into its group on the spot. The engineer on the ladder and the one at the desk see the same live view, so nobody is reading addresses over a radio.

A live view of the system

Routers, subnets, devices, groups and scenes sit on one page, with levels and faults as they are now, not as they were drawn. Scene tables are edited in place. There are light and dark themes, which matters more than it sounds when you are working in a dim ceiling void at night.

Changes you can check

Every change is written, read back and logged. You know what the site actually holds, rather than what someone meant to send. A writes tray tracks each change until the router confirms it.

Prepare the job before site

BeamUI can open a Helvar design file without a router attached, so the job can be prepared before anyone is on site. Groups, names and scenes can be laid out in the office and checked against the drawings, leaving site time for identifying devices and setting levels in the room. Site time is the expensive part of any controls job, so moving work off site is where the gain is.

What is coming

An AI commissioning assistant is in build for BeamUI. The plan is that it turns a brief in plain language into grouping, naming and scene changes, shows the result as a before and after, then applies it in one approved step. As with everything AI in Beam, it drafts and a person decides: nothing changes on site until someone approves the whole plan, and each step is checked against the router and logged. Logins and roles are also in build.

Who can use it

BeamUI is available to commissioners with a licensed Helvar Designer. Remote commissioning is provided by Luxtron. It is part of Beam, the platform we build in-house for Helvar sites, alongside BeamWatch for monitoring and BeamEdge on site.

Screens and the full roadmap are on the intelligence showcase. If you commission Helvar systems and want to see BeamUI on a real project, get in touch.
