In September 2016 we added an analogue option to our constant voltage dimming range: the PWM24 1CV-AN, a module that lets a 1-10 V control signal dim 12 V or 24 V LED strip in coves and decorative lighting. It is the analogue counterpart to DALI driver extensions such as Helvar's LL1-CV-DA.

How it fits in a cove circuit
LED strip runs from a constant voltage driver, and most of those drivers have no dimming input. The PWM24 1CV-AN sits between the driver and the strip. It takes the 12 to 24 V DC supply, reads the 1-10 V signal from the control system, and dims the strip by pulse width modulation. So the driver can be any suitable fixed-output CV supply, and the dimming is handled in one small module per circuit.
1-10 V is a simple analogue protocol: the control voltage sets the level, 10 V for full output and 1 V for minimum. It suits projects with an existing analogue control system, or where each circuit only needs a level and not the addressing, scenes and feedback of DALI.
What we quoted at launch
- Dimming range from 1 % to 100 %.
- PWM frequency of 1 kHz, to reduce visible flicker.
- Low standby power for the system.
- Works with 12 V and 24 V inputs. At 24 V the strip draws half the current for the same power, so losses along the run are lower and the light stays more even end to end.
Today
On new projects, DALI dimming for constant voltage strip is the more flexible option, for example the Helvar LL1-CV-DA, so coves can join scenes and be addressed individually. For analogue systems, contact us to check what we can supply for your cove runs.
